Why Am I Here?

I do my best thinking when I'm out of the house. I'm most productive when I can sit outside in a public place, people watch, and passively listen to conversation around me. Plus, the noise around me helps drown out the sound of my laptop's broken fans, which sound like a small jet plane trying to take off. And so as I write this, I'm sitting at a picnic table listening to trees blowing in the wind, birds chirping, and cars driving past. If any of the people walking by threw a casual glance towards me, they would've seen a twenty-something dude with a white laptop screen, blank except for the words "Why am I here?" written in large, bold letters at the top, staring vacantly into space for the better part of 20 minutes. There's a metaphor in there somewhere, but I just think it's really funny.
I'm writing this post because, like sitting in public, writing helps me think and focus.
Oh, a bumblebee landed on my laptop. Cute. You know, the whole "Bees physically shouldn't be able to fly and we don't know how they do it" thing is a myth. Jerry Seinfeld lied to you. Ok it's gone now.
I'm still trying to figure out what exactly I want this website to be. Obviously the blog is the big thing, although I think it's trendy to call them "newsletters" now. But I don't know what kind of stuff I'll post on it. Right now, I think it'll just be another platform for a white guy to share his very important thoughts. The world definitely doesn't need more of those, but we've never let that stop us before. There will also be very unimportant thoughts, as well as things completely devoid of thought. I think this post might belong in the third category.
All this begs another question: why post these random thoughts online, and promote them so people will read them? Why not just keep your opinions to yourself? Well, white people aren't good at that either, and change is hard.
